The Swine Flu and Jesus
Ok. So you have all heard of this new flu called the Swine Flu. Ooohhhhh ssooooo scaryyyy. It is interesting to me to watch America and the world become so panicked by a flu that we have all been exposed to by now. The media of course being the biggest instigator. We all know bad news gets more ratings. I could startle you with statistics of how many people die from the normal flu vs. this how many have died world wide from the Swine Flu…but I won’t.
Here is the thing. I have two main thoughts.
Thought One: When God decides it is our time to go we go. The Swine flu has not snuck up on God and he is like, “Oh crap, did not see that one coming, sorry 150 people, I am gonna have to move your death date up”. He is soveriegn and our days are already numbered here on this earth. We could get the Swine flu, almost die, but then miraculously recover and get hit by a car and die on the way home from the hosipital. I know that sounds morbid, but God has not given us a spirit of fear. We are to simply trust He is in control.
Thought Two: Why isn’t the world panicing that Christ could return any day? That is where the real histeria shoudl lie. People may die and go to hell and they don’t know or don’t care. That is heartbreaking!
Maybe we can use this Swine Flu as a witnessing opportunity. How easy when you talk to an unbeliever about it to bring up the real issue, their soul.
Let’s pray Christian’s everywhere (me too!) will use this as an open door to sharing the gospel!

Amen to evertything you’ve said! I agree about the media being the main instigator of the panic. We were going to watch the news the other night and the first 20 minutes were entirely taken up by the swine flu! Personally, I think it’s a ruse to turn our attention away from Washington and what’s going on there. I bet no one knows about the “hate law” that’s just been voted on in congress (two days ago)that would charge YOU with the same crime someone might commit against persons of different “pursuasions” if (due to their own hate or stress) felt influenced to (commit that crime) because of what you may have said about what YOU believe…no matter if you knew that person or if you intended any malice!
The panic over the swine flu and POSSIBLE pandemic sure has kept all other news out of “the picture”!
But again, as you said, Neva, nothing gets by God…He’s not surprised by any of this. Believers need to wake up!
